Key Duties and Responsibilities
Student Health Care
Provide first aid and emergency care for injuries or sudden illnesses.
Manage chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, epilepsy) with individualized care plans.
Administer prescribed medications and monitor side effects.
Health Monitoring
Conduct routine health screenings (vision, hearing, growth, BMI).
Track immunization records and ensure compliance with state/local requirements.
Identify and report communicable diseases, coordinating with public health authorities.
Health Education & Counseling
Educate students, staff, and parents on hygiene, nutrition, mental health, and preventive care.
Provide confidential counseling for students on health-related concerns.
Support wellness programs and awareness campaigns within the school.
Collaboration
Work with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support students with special needs.
Liaise with parents and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings for students requiring medical support.
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate medical records and incident reports.
Develop and update school health policies and emergency protocols.
Train staff in CPR, first aid, and handling medical emergencies.
📋 Required Qualifications
Education: Diploma or degree in Nursing (GNM, B.Sc Nursing).
Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) with valid state/national nursing council registration.
Experience: Prior work in pediatrics, community health, or school settings preferred.
Skills: Strong communication, empathy, crisis management, and organizational ability.
