Job Purpose
To provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to admitted patients in the ward by monitoring health status, administering medications, assisting in procedures, and ensuring proper documentation in accordance with hospital protocols.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care & Monitoring
Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients.
Monitor vital signs and assess patient condition regularly.
Identify any changes in patient status and inform the duty doctor immediately.
Assist patients with daily activities and ensure comfort and safety.
2. Medication Administration
Administer medications as prescribed by the consultant.
Maintain medication charts and ensure timely administration.
Monitor for side effects and adverse drug reactions.
Ensure safe handling of high-alert medications.
3. Clinical Procedures
Perform IV cannulation, catheterization, wound dressing, and other nursing procedures.
Assist doctors during ward rounds and minor procedures.
Prepare patients for diagnostic tests and procedures.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate nursing notes, intake-output charts, and treatment records.
Ensure proper shift handover with detailed patient updates.
Report any incidents or complications to the Ward Incharge.
5. Infection Control & Safety
Follow hospital infection control policies and hand hygiene protocols.
Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation.
Maintain cleanliness and discipline in the ward.
6. Patient & Family Education
Educate patients and attendants regarding medications, diet, and discharge instructions.
Provide emotional support and ensure patient satisfaction.
