The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care and ensuring the smooth functioning of the Operation Theatre.
The role involves assisting surgeons and anaesthesiologists during surgical procedures, maintaining OT equipment and records, ensuring compliance with clinical protocols, and supporting patient care throughout the perioperative process.
Key Responsibilities
Operation Theatre Management
Ensure proper functioning and readiness of OT equipment, including anaesthesia machines, ventilators, heart-lung machines, suction units, and other critical equipment.
Conduct regular physical verification and inspection of OT equipment and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
Maintain operation theatre records, logs, and documentation as per hospital protocols.
Ensure uninterrupted availability of oxygen, suction, and centralized oxygen piping systems.
Monitor and maintain OT temperature, humidity, and environmental conditions as per established protocols.
Ensure proper functioning of scavenging systems for the safe removal of anaesthetic gases.
Coordinate fumigation and infection control activities in OTs and maintain related documentation.
