Job Description (JD) – Patient care taker

Position: Caretaker / Cleaner
Department: Housekeeping & Patient Support Services
Location: Calida Rehab
Reporting To: Housekeeping Supervisor / Facility Manager / Admin Manager

Job Summary

The Caretaker / Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and a safe environment within the rehabilitation center. The role includes cleaning patient rooms, common areas, washrooms, and assisting in maintaining a comfortable and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key ResponsibilitiesHousekeeping & Cleaning

• Sweep, mop, dust, and clean all designated areas of the facility.

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, washrooms, dining areas, therapy rooms, and common areas.

• Dispose of waste as per facility guidelines and infection control protocols.

• Replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries, and consumables as required.

• Ensure proper segregation and disposal of biomedical and general waste.

• Maintain cleanliness of furniture, fixtures, windows, doors, and equipment.

Patient Support

• Assist patients with non-medical needs as instructed by supervisors.

• Help maintain patient comfort and cleanliness of living areas.

• Report any patient concerns or unusual observations to nursing or supervisory staff.

Safety & Hygiene

• Follow infection control and hygiene standards at all times.

• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and responsibly.

• Immediately report maintenance issues, hazards, or accidents.

• Adhere to safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Facility Maintenance Support

• Assist in shifting furniture and supplies when required.

• Support housekeeping and maintenance teams during inspections and events.

• Ensure all assigned areas remain clean and presentable throughout the day.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain daily cleaning checklists.

• Report shortages of cleaning materials and equipment.

• Inform supervisors about repairs or maintenance requirements.

• Patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8th Pass / 10th Pass preferred.

• Previous experience in housekeeping, cleaning, hospital, rehabilitation center, hotel, or facility management is preferred.

• Basic understanding of hygiene and sanitation practices.

Skills Required

• Good cleaning and housekeeping skills.

• Ability to follow instructions and maintain discipline.

• Basic communication skills.

• Physical fitness to perform cleaning and lifting duties.

• Teamwork and positive attitude.

Working Conditions

• Rotational shifts as per organizational requirements.

• May involve weekend and holiday duties.

• Work in patient care and residential rehabilitation environments.
