The DG Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of diesel generator (DG) sets at customer sites. The role requires strong technical expertise in diesel engines, alternators, electrical control panels, and customer service to ensure maximum equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Install and commission DG sets at customer locations.
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) as per maintenance schedules.
Attend breakdown calls and restore equipment within committed response time.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control panel faults.
Inspect diesel engines, alternators, batteries, fuel systems, cooling systems, and AMF/ATS panels.
Conduct load testing, performance testing, and trial runs.
Replace defective components and ensure proper machine operation.
Prepare Field Service Reports (FSR), maintenance records, and customer service reports.
Coordinate with customers regarding service schedules and maintenance requirements.
Ensure proper usage of tools, testing instruments, and safety equipment.
Maintain inventory of service tools and spare parts.
Follow company safety policies and statutory regulations during service activities.
Provide technical guidance and basic operational training to customers.
Required Qualifications
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Certification in DG servicing is an added advantage.
Experience
Fresher to 5+ years in servicing diesel generator sets.
Experience with Cummins, Kirloskar, Mahindra Powerol, Caterpillar, Perkins, Ashok Leyland, or similar DG brands is preferred.
