Job Description – Tractor Mechanic
Position: Tractor Mechanic / Technician
Department: Service / After-Sales

Reporting To: Service Manager / Workshop Manager
Job Purpose
To diagnose, repair and maintain tractors and agricultural machinery, ensuring quality workmanship, timely job completion and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspection, servicing, diagnosis and repair of tractors and agricultural equipment.
- Identify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, transmission, engine and other technical issues.
- Perform scheduled tractor servicing and preventive maintenance.
- Repair and replace defective parts as required.
- Properly diagnose faults before carrying out repairs to avoid unnecessary part replacement.
- Conduct field visits for breakdowns and customer complaints when required.
- Carry out tractor pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and ensure vehicles are ready for delivery.
- Test tractors after repairs to ensure proper performance and safety.
- Follow OEM-recommended repair procedures, technical standards and safety practices.
- Coordinate with the Service Advisor/Service Manager regarding job requirements and repair status.
- Maintain proper use and care of workshop tools, equipment and diagnostic instruments.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety within the workshop and work area.
- Explain basic repair/maintenance requirements to customers when required.
- Report recurring technical issues and major failures to the Service Manager.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned job cards and maintain proper service documentation.
- Support warranty repairs according to dealership and OEM procedures.

Required Skills

- Willingness to travel for field service/breakdown calls
Qualification & Experience
Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Automobile or relevant trade preferred.
Experience: 1–5 years of experience in tractor, automobile or agricultural machinery repair preferred. Experienced tractor mechanics may be considered based on practical knowledge.
