Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in vehicles — engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, etc.
  Perform routine maintenance services: oil and filter changes, lubrication, fluid top-ups, brake inspections, tire rotations, periodic servicing as per schedule.

• Conduct vehicle inspections and safety / quality checks — before and after service/repair, to ensure vehicles meet manufacturer & safety standards.

• Use diagnostic tools and equipment (scanners, multimeters, hand tools, hoists or jacks if available) to locate faults, dismantle/reassemble parts where needed, and test functionality (e.g. test-drives) after repairs.

• Maintain accurate records of all work performed — services, repairs, parts used, labour hours. Provide estimates and job cards, maintain documentation as per dealership standards.

• Keep the workshop / service area clean, safe, and organised; maintain tools, equipment and inventory (spares, lubricants, etc.).

• Interact with service advisors or customer-facing staff when required — potentially explaining technical issues or repair needs to non-technical customers.

Qualifications / Skills / Expected Profile

• Basic education: often 10th/12th pass + relevant vocational qualification (ITI) or Diploma in Automobile / Mechanical / similar trade.

• Prior experience in automotive repair/maintenance or dealership service — often 1–5 years or more, depending on role grade.

• Strong mechanical aptitude; ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults; familiarity with diagnostic tools and repair procedures.

• Willingness to work in a workshop/service environment (hands-on work, possibly shift / day-shift, working on multiple vehicles).

• Attention to detail, safety awareness, ability to maintain records/documentation accurately, and (ideally) good communication for interaction with customer-facing staff.

• Receiving vehicles coming for scheduled maintenance or repair, diagnosing reported issues or conducting inspection.

• Carrying out required servicing/repairs — from basic maintenance to more complex mechanical/electrical work.

• Performing pre-delivery inspections, post-repair testing and validation (test drives, safety checks).

• Recording details of work performed, parts replaced, costs, time taken, for internal log and customer billing.

• Maintaining workshop cleanliness and tool/equipment readiness.

• Coordinating with parts/inventory staff to ensure availability of spare parts, lubricants, and other consumables.

• Possibly continuous learning / updates — since newer vehicle models and automotive technologies may require updated skills/training.
