Job Summary

The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing aluminium door and window systems to meet client specifications, industry standards, and company goals. This role involves creating detailed technical drawings, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring designs are both aesthetically pleasing and structurally sound.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Development: Create innovative designs for aluminium doors and windows using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to meet project requirements and industry standards.

• Technical Drawings: Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings, including specifications, assembly instructions, and bill of materials (BOM).

• Product Optimization: Analyze and improve existing designs to enhance performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Collaboration: Work closely with production, sales, and installation teams to ensure designs are feasible for manufacturing and installation.

• Client Interaction: Engage with clients to understand their needs, provide technical support, and incorporate feedback into designs.

• Quality Assurance: Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., structural integrity, thermal performance, and safety regulations).

• Material Selection: Specify appropriate aluminium alloys, finishes, and hardware components to achieve desired functionality and aesthetics.

• Prototyping and Testing: Support the development and testing of prototypes to validate design performance and functionality.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of designs, revisions, and project progress for internal and external use.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience: 2-5 years of experience in product design, preferably in the aluminium window and door industry or a related manufacturing sector.

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).

  • Knowledge of aluminium extrusion processes and material properties.

  • Familiarity with industry standards and building codes related to fenestration systems.

• Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

• Preferred:

  • Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software like Revit.

  • Understanding of thermal and acoustic performance in fenestration systems.
