Job Overview & Role Summary

The primary goal of a packing worker is to inspect, weigh, box, seal, and label products accurately and quickly to meet daily shipping targets. They serve as a final quality-control checkpoint before merchandise leaves the facility.

Core Responsibilities

• Pull and Sort: Gather items from inventory or production assembly lines based on order slips, invoices, or digital systems.

• Quality Inspection: Check items for damage, defects, or missing pieces, and discard non-conforming products.

• Pack and Seal: Place items securely into appropriate boxes, crates, or packaging using protective materials like bubble wrap, foam, or tape.

• Weigh and Label: Measure package weights, attach shipping or content labels, and verify bar codes.

• Palletize and Stage: Stack completed boxes onto pallets or hand carts, and transport them to loading docks or storage zones.

• Equipment Operation: Use basic warehouse tools, handheld barcode scanners, tape machines, and sometimes manual pallet jacks or forklifts.

• Safety and Cleanliness: Follow safety protocols, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and keep the workspace clear of debris.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is typically preferred, though many entry-level positions require no formal degree.

• Experience: Prior warehouse, manufacturing, or line-assembly experience is a plus, but on-the-job training is frequently provided.

• Physical Fitness: Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift heavy weights (often 50 to 75 pounds unassisted) over long shift hours.

• Basic Skills: Competency in basic math, reading order manifests, and operating a computer or barcode scanner.

• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, time management, reliability, and teamwork
