Pharmacist – Job Description
Overview
A pharmacist dispenses prescription medications, ensures their safe and effective use, and provides expert advice to patients and healthcare providers on drugs, dosages, and interactions.
Key Responsibilities
Review, verify, and accurately dispense prescriptions from physicians and other healthcare providers
Check for drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications before dispensing
Counsel patients on proper medication use, dosage, side effects, and storage
Monitor patient drug therapies and recommend adjustments when needed
Collaborate with doctors and other healthcare professionals on treatment plans
Maintain accurate patient records and prescription documentation
Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety standards
Manage pharmacy inventory — ordering, stocking, and monitoring expiration dates of medications
Administer vaccinations and health screenings (in many retail/community settings)
Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff
Provide information on over-the-counter medications and general health advice
Handle insurance processing and billing for medications where applicable
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or equivalent (e.g., B.Pharm /M.Pharm depending on country)
Valid pharmacist license/registration ,Haryana
