Key Responsibilities

• Collect blood, urine, stool, swab, and other clinical samples as per laboratory requirements.

• Properly identify, label, transport, and store patient samples.

• Perform routine laboratory tests as assigned, including hematology, biochemistry, clinical pathology, and other relevant investigations.

• Operate laboratory equipment and instruments safely and correctly.

• Perform daily equipment checks, calibration, and basic maintenance as required.

• Follow SOPs for all laboratory procedures and ensure accurate test results.

• Maintain proper documentation, registers, worksheets, and laboratory records.

• Report critical or abnormal values immediately to the concerned doctor/pathologist as per hospital protocol.

• Ensure proper handling and disposal of biomedical waste.

• Follow infection-control, hand-hygiene, PPE, and safety protocols at all times.

• Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of the laboratory and workstations.

• Monitor laboratory stock and inform the Lab In-charge about shortages of reagents, consumables, and other supplies.

• Check reagent expiry dates and ensure proper storage conditions.

• Participate in internal and external quality-control activities.

• Assist during laboratory audits and accreditation activities such as NABH.

• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory reports.

• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, OPD/IPD, casualty, OT, and other departments for timely sample collection and reporting.

• Perform other laboratory-related duties assigned by the Laboratory In-charge or management.
