Responsibilities
Collect, receive, identify and properly preserve water and environmental samples.
Perform physical, chemical and microbiological testing of water and wastewater samples as per approved test methods
Perform environmental testing related to ambient air, stack emissions, noise and other environmental monitoring, as applicable to the laboratory's scope.
Operate laboratory instruments such as pH meters, conductivity meters, turbidity meters, spectrophotometers, DO meters and other analytical equipment.
Prepare reagents, standards and solutions required for testing.
Carry out calibration checks, instrument verification and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Maintain laboratory records, worksheets, test observations and raw data accurately.
Ensure proper sample traceability and follow laboratory sample handling procedures.
Perform quality control activities including blanks, standards, duplicates and other applicable QC checks.
Identify abnormal or inconsistent test results and report them to the concerned supervisor.
Prepare test reports and maintain documentation in accordance with laboratory procedures.
Follow laboratory safety procedures and proper handling/disposal of chemicals and samples.
Assist in maintaining compliance with NABL ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, where applicable.
Participate in internal quality checks, audits and method verification/validation activities.
Carry out field sampling and environmental monitoring at customer sites when required.
