Job Overview

We are looking for a responsible, hardworking and experienced Medical Store Boy / Pharmacy Store Assistant to manage the day-to-day operations of a medical store.

The candidate should have practical experience working in a medical store/pharmacy and must be able to read and understand medical prescriptions, identify medicines correctly and assist customers with medicine-related requirements under the supervision of the pharmacist/store management.

The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of commonly used medicines, proper medicine storage, stock management and billing, and should be capable of handling the complete day-to-day operations of the medical store.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and understand doctors' medical prescriptions accurately.

• Identify medicines, strengths, quantities and dosage instructions mentioned on prescriptions.

• Dispense medicines strictly as per the prescription and applicable pharmacy/store procedures.

• Assist customers in finding medicines and other pharmacy products.

• Check medicine names, expiry dates, batch numbers and packaging before handing over medicines.

• Maintain proper arrangement and organization of medicines on shelves.

• Handle incoming stock and ensure medicines are stored appropriately.

• Maintain accurate inventory and regularly check stock availability.

• Monitor medicines that are near expiry and inform the pharmacist/store management.

• Assist with billing and cash counter operations, if required.

• Handle customer queries professionally and courteously.

• Maintain records of sales, purchases and stock movement as required.

• Coordinate with suppliers for medicine deliveries and stock requirements.

• Receive and verify incoming medicine stock against invoices.

• Keep the medical store clean, organized and hygienic.

• Ensure medicines are stored according to their required storage conditions.

• Assist the pharmacist and store management in smooth day-to-day operations.

• Maintain confidentiality of customer and prescription-related information.

• Ensure the store remains properly stocked and ready for daily operations.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience in a medical store, pharmacy or chemist shop will be preferred.

• Must be able to read and understand medical prescriptions.

• Should have basic knowledge of commonly used medicines and pharmaceutical products.

• Should be able to identify medicine names accurately.

• Good understanding of medicine storage and expiry checking.

• Basic computer and billing knowledge will be an advantage.

• Good communication and customer-handling skills.

• Should be honest, responsible and punctual.

• Should be comfortable handling multiple responsibilities in a busy medical store.

• Must be willing to take responsibility for day-to-day store operations.

• Immediate joiners are preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates who have previously worked as a Medical Store Boy, Pharmacy Assistant, Chemist Shop Assistant, Pharmacy Helper or Medical Store Executive and have practical experience handling prescriptions and customers will be preferred.

The candidate should be capable of working independently, maintaining proper stock and assisting in the smooth functioning of the complete medical store.
