We are a travel startup focused on a US-based online travel platform. We need a smart, articulate individual to evaluate US-based payment gateways and manage vendor conversations. You'll be the point person for selecting the right payment solution for our international travel business.
• Research US payment gateways (Stripe, Braintree, PayPal, Square, Authorize.net)
• Speak directly with payment providers to understand pricing, features, and integration needs
• Compare options and present clear recommendations to leadership
• Negotiate terms and coordinate with tech team on implementation
• Ensure compliance with US payment regulations
• Own end-to-end operational health of all payment gateway accounts across banks, processors, and payment partners
• Monitor daily alerts, chargeback ratios, RDR / Ethoca / Verifi status, and gateway risk thresholds
• Act as the single point of accountability for payment gateway stability and continuity
• Coordinate onboarding of new payment gateways and payment accounts
• Prepare and submit documentation required for underwriting, periodic reviews, and compliance checks
• Work directly with banks, processors, and gateway partners during onboarding and ongoing reviews
• Ensure diversification across gateways to reduce dependency and risk concentration
• Coordinate with chargeback and support teams to ensure timely and accurate dispute handling
• Track trends, root causes, and early risk indicators (without directly processing disputes)
• Ensure RDR and early-warning tools are correctly configured, active, and monitored
• Work closely with accounting, support, and operations teams to ensure compliance with gateway requirements
• Proactively escalate critical risks, alerts, or anomalies to leadership
• Maintain internal SOPs, operational checklists, and reporting related to payment gateway risk and stability
• 2+ years of experience in payment gateway operations, risk operations, fintech operations, or financial services operations
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Hands-on experience working with payment gateways, processors, banks, or acquirers in an operations or coordination role
• Prior experience interacting with underwriting, risk, or compliance teams
• High proficiency in spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with U.S.-based banks, processors, and payment partners
• Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, and follow-through
• Ability to work independently and drive cross-team execution
• Authority to coordinate and drive operational actions across internal teams related to payment gateway risk
• Direct access to leadership for escalations and decision-making support
• Expected to operate with a high degree of trust, discretion, and accountability
• Comfortable leading and participating in calls with U.S.-based financial institutions during overnight IST hours
• This role does not involve IT development, coding, or direct customer support
