Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and skilled GIS Specialist with an M.Sc. in Geology and a minimum of 5–7 years of relevant professional experience in GIS, geological mapping, and spatial data analysis. The candidate will be responsible for managing geospatial datasets, conducting geological and terrain analysis, preparing thematic maps, and supporting field-based geological and GIS projects in and around Veliamanam, Kannur, Kerala.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and maintain GIS databases, spatial datasets, and thematic maps.

• Perform geological mapping, terrain analysis, land-use mapping, and spatial data interpretation.

• Use GIS software such as QGIS and ArcGIS for advanced spatial analysis and map preparation.

• Integrate GPS survey data, satellite imagery, remote sensing data, and digital elevation models.

• Conduct and coordinate field surveys to collect, validate, and verify geological and geographical information.

• Analyze geological formations, geomorphology, topography, and site-specific environmental conditions.

• Prepare technical reports, GIS maps, spatial analysis outputs, and project documentation.

• Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of geospatial data.

• Coordinate with geologists, engineers, survey teams, project managers, and local stakeholders.

• Communicate effectively in Malayalam during field visits and stakeholder consultations. Knowledge of Hindi is an added advantage.

• Provide technical guidance on GIS workflows, data management, and mapping procedures.

• Ensure that GIS deliverables meet project specifications, quality standards, and timelines.

• Manage a team of 15 GIS Executives
  

Educational Qualifications

• M.Sc. in Geology is mandatory.

• Additional certification or training in GIS, remote sensing, or geospatial technologies is preferred.
  

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5–7 years of relevant professional experience in GIS, geological mapping, spatial data analysis, or geospatial project execution.

• Demonstrated experience using GIS software, preferably QGIS and/or ArcGIS.

• Practical experience in field data collection, GPS mapping, spatial database management, and map preparation.

• Experience integrating geological information with geospatial datasets.

• Prior experience in geology, environmental assessment, land mapping, or natural resource management projects is an advantage.
