JOB DESCRIPTION – MALE HOUSEKEEPING STAFF

Position: Housekeeping Staff
Department: Housekeeping / Store Operations
Location: Supermarket / Retail Store
Reports To: Department Manager / Store Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the supermarket, including sales floor, entrance, billing area, aisles, staircase and other common areas.

• Clean and maintain staff areas, washrooms and backroom areas as per the store cleaning schedule.

• Regularly sweep, mop and clean floors to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.

• Attend to spills immediately and place appropriate caution signs to prevent customer/employee accidents.

• Clean glass doors, windows, shelves, racks and other store fixtures as required.

• Ensure dustbins are emptied regularly and waste is segregated and disposed of properly.

• Support the store team during opening and closing activities, including cleaning and basic housekeeping preparation.

• Maintain cleanliness around the store entrance and parking/outer areas, wherever applicable.

• Handle housekeeping equipment and cleaning materials safely and responsibly.

• Report any maintenance issues, leakage, breakage, pest-related concerns or safety hazards to the Store Manager.

• Assist during special events, festivals, stock-taking and high-footfall periods when required.

• Follow all store safety, hygiene and housekeeping standards.

• Maintain a professional and courteous attitude while interacting with customers and colleagues.

Candidate Requirements

• Male candidate preferred.

• Previous housekeeping/cleaning experience in a supermarket, retail store, hotel, mall or similar environment is preferred.

• Physically fit and able to perform cleaning and housekeeping duties.

• Willing to work in shifts, weekends and during festivals as per store requirements.

• Good discipline, punctuality and attendance.

• Ability to follow instructions and maintain workplace hygiene standards.
