Job Summary:
The Housekeeping Staff is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control standards within the hospital. This includes patient rooms, wards, operating theaters, laboratories, waiting areas, and other hospital facilities. The role ensures a safe, sanitary, and pleasant environment for patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning & Sanitation:
Clean and disinfect patient rooms, corridors, wards, ICUs, operating theaters, and other hospital areas according to hospital protocols.
Sweep, mop, dust, and polish floors, walls, furniture, and fixtures.
Empty trash bins and dispose of waste safely, following biomedical waste management guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness of toilets, bathrooms, and wash areas.
Infection Control:
Adhere to hospital infection control policies and safety guidelines.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.
Ensure proper segregation and disposal of biomedical and hazardous waste.
Support Services:
Assist in setting up and cleaning patient beds, trolleys, and equipment.
Support other hospital staff in maintaining a hygienic environment.
Report maintenance issues such as leaks, broken fixtures, or hazards to supervisors.
Compliance & Record Keeping:
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cleaning and disinfection.
Maintain logs of cleaning activities and report daily work to supervisors.
Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum education: High School or equivalent.
Prior experience in hospital housekeeping is preferred but not mandatory.
Knowledge of cleaning agents, disinfectants, and equipment use.
Basic understanding of hygiene, infection control, and safety protocols.
Physically fit and able to stand, bend, lift, and move items as needed.
Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
Working Conditions:
Shift-based work, including mornings, evenings, and weekends as required.
Exposure to hospital environments and medical waste.
Must adhere to strict hygiene and safety standards.
