Job Description

• Supervise daily maintenance of lawns, gardens, flower beds, shrubs, hedges, trees and indoor/outdoor plants.

• Plan and monitor activities such as watering, pruning, trimming, mowing, weeding, planting and fertilization.

• Ensure proper irrigation and drainage of landscaped areas.

• Identify plant diseases, pests, nutrient deficiencies and other horticulture-related issues and take corrective action.

• Maintain seasonal flower plantations and replacement of damaged/dead plants.

• Ensure proper use and maintenance of gardening tools, equipment and machinery.

• Maintain the overall aesthetic appearance of the client's premises.

• Ensure safe handling and storage of fertilizers, pesticides and other chemicals.

• Follow prescribed safety procedures while operating lawn mowers, trimmers, cutters and other equipment.

  Role & responsibilities

• Allocate daily duties to gardeners, mali and other horticulture workers.

• Monitor attendance, punctuality, grooming, uniform and discipline of horticulture staff.

• Train workers on gardening techniques, equipment handling and safe working practices.

• Monitor productivity and take corrective action in case of poor performance or absenteeism.

• Ensure adequate manpower availability as per site requirements.

• Coordinate with the Site Manager, Facility Manager and client representatives regarding horticulture requirements.

• Attend client complaints and ensure timely resolution.

• Conduct regular site inspections and identify areas requiring improvement.

• Prepare and submit daily/weekly horticulture activity reports.

• Maintain stock of fertilizers, pesticides, manure, seeds, plants, gardening tools and consumables.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma / Certificate in Horticulture, Agriculture, Floriculture or related field preferred.

• 2-5 years of experience in horticulture, landscaping, gardening or facility management.

• Experience in managing a team of gardeners/malis will be preferred.

• The employee may be required to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
