A Field Sales Manager is responsible for leading a team of sales representatives who work remotely or in the field, often traveling to meet clients face-to-face.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Development: Recruiting, onboarding, training, and mentoring field sales representatives to improve performance.
Sales Strategy Execution: Developing field-specific action plans, setting quotas, and assigning sales territories to maximize market penetration.
Target Achievement: Monitoring team performance metrics to ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets are met or exceeded.
Prospecting and Lead Generation: Actively finding new business opportunities through cold calling, on-ground visits, and networking.
Direct Selling and Presentations: Conducting face-to-face meetings and providing product demonstrations to potential customers.
Territory Management: Managing a specific geographical area, planning daily routes, and maximizing market coverage.
Negotiation and Closing: Negotiating contracts, addressing objections, and closing deals to meet monthly/quarterly targets.
Relationship Management: Cultivating relationships with existing customers to ensure satisfaction, repeat business, and renewals.
Reporting: Submitting daily/weekly sales reports, including data on customer acquisition and competitor activity, typically via a CRM tool.
