The Fabric Merchandiser will manage end-to-end coordination between customers and mills/suppliers. The role involves fabric sourcing, price management, order follow-ups, maintaining approvals, and ensuring timely dispatch. Strong command over Excel, data handling, and documentation is essential.
Understand buyer requirements (quality, GSM, weave/knit, composition, width, finish, shade, etc.).
Communicate specifications clearly to mills and suppliers.
Follow up daily for sampling, production, and dispatch.
Source fabrics from suitable mills at competitive rates.
Arrange sample yardage, hanger cuts, and shade options.
Coordinate developments as per market demand.
Prepare and release purchase orders to mills.
Track order status from booking to delivery.
Ensure materials are ready as per committed timelines.
Maintain proper records of:
Sample approvals
Lab dips / shade approvals
Quality parameters
Test reports
Keep systematic data for future reference and repeat orders.
Maintain order sheets, stock statements, inward/outward, pending orders, and delivery schedules.
Prepare costing comparisons, supplier rate charts, and margin working.
Share periodic reports with management and sales teams.
Coordinate with warehouse and transporters for timely delivery.
Monitor part shipments and balance quantities.
Resolve quality or shade disputes with mills.
Manage claims, replacements, and debit notes where required.
Strong knowledge of fabric varieties (woven/knits, dyeing, printing, greige, RFD, etc.).
Excellent follow-up and negotiation ability.
Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot, stock tracking, costing).
Highly organized in documentation and record keeping.
Ability to handle multiple customers and urgent timelines.
Good communication skills.
Textile / Fashion / Commerce graduate preferred.
2–7 years’ experience in fabric trading or textile merchandising.
Timely order execution.
Accuracy in documentation & data.
Margin management.
Reduction in claims/shortages.
