solar electrician (or solar PV installer and electrical technician) installs, wires, tests, maintains, and repairs solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, inverters, and battery storage units.
Core Responsibilities
Electrical Installation & Wiring: Lay and terminate DC and AC wiring, connect string or micro-inverters, and hook up distribution boards, isolators, and earthing systems.
System Mounting & Integration: Assist or lead the physical mounting of solar panels on rooftops or ground-mounted structures according to structural blueprints
Testing & Commissioning: Perform circuit continuity, voltage checks, insulation tests, and system startup checks to ensure grid compliance and safety.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose low-generation issues, inverter faults, loose connections, or ground-fault alarms, and perform preventive maintenance
Safety & Code Compliance: Follow local electrical codes, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and practice safety measures like Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) and working at heights.
