Driver Core responsibilities
Safe operation: Drive safely and legally, following all traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers, cargo, and other road users.
Vehicle maintenance: Keep the vehicle in good condition by performing regular checks, cleaning, and arranging necessary maintenance and service appointments.
Navigation and routing: Use GPS or other navigation tools to plan and follow optimal routes, and be able to adapt to changes or traffic updates.
Cargo handling: Assist with loading and unloading goods, ensuring they are properly secured and undamaged during transport.
Record-keeping: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and trip details.
Communication: Communicate with dispatchers, clients, or passengers and report any delays or issues.
Essential skills and qualifications
Valid driver's license: A valid driving license is a fundamental requirement.
Clean driving record: A clean record is typically expected.
Excellent driving skills: Possess strong and defensive driving abilities.
