Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Proofreader to join our publication team. The ideal candidate will review and correct written content to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to company style guidelines before publication. This role is essential in maintaining the quality and credibility of our print and digital publications.

Key Responsibilities

Review manuscripts, articles, marketing materials, and other written content for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting errors.

Ensure consistency in tone, style, and layout according to the company’s editorial guidelines.

Verify factual information, dates, names, and references when necessary.

Compare edited proofs with original copy to ensure corrections have been properly implemented.

Collaborate with editors, writers, designers, and production teams to resolve content issues.

Meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.

Mark corrections clearly using proofreading symbols or digital tracking tools.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field (preferred).

Proven experience as a proofreader, copy editor, or similar role in a publishing or media environment.

Exceptional command of the English language.

Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies.

Familiarity with style guides (e.g., AP, Chicago, MLA).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and editing software.

Preferred Skills

Experience in book, magazine, or digital publishing.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong time management and organizational skills.

Basic understanding of layout and design processes.
