Position: Retail Store Cashier

Reports to: Store Manager

About Us

Role Summary

As a Cashier at our store, you will be the face of our retail operation at the checkout zone. You will greet customers, process payments, handle returns/exchanges and ensure an efficient and friendly checkout experience. Your role contributes directly to the overall customer satisfaction, store operations, and sales performance.

Key Responsibilities

● Greet customers warmly as they approach the checkout counter.

● Scan items, verify prices, apply discounts/promotions, and process payments (cash, card, mobile-payments).

● Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system accurately; issue receipts and change as needed.

● Handle returns, exchanges and refunds in accordance with store policy.

● Ensure cash drawer balances at the end of shifts; reconcile till discrepancies and report issues to management.

● Maintain the checkout area in a clean, organised and presentable state.

● Assist customers with questions or direct them to appropriate staff for help.

● Inform customers about store promotions, loyalty programmes or special offers.

● Collaborate with the store team to restock merchandise, bag items, and support other store operations when needed (e.g., when lines are long).

● Adhere to all company policies regarding loss prevention, security, and cash handling.

● Report any equipment defects, technical issues or customer complaints to the store manager.

Qualifications & Skills

● +12 pass

● Proven experience as a cashier, preferably in retail or a fast-paced environment is a plus.

● Basic arithmetic and comfort in handling money, giving change, working with POS systems.

● Good customer service skills — friendly, approachable and patient.

● Excellent communication (verbal) skills, and ability to work effectively with team members.

● High level of accuracy, attention to detail and integrity in handling cash and transactions.

● Ability to stand for extended periods, handle moderate physical activity (e.g., bagging, restocking).

● Trustworthy, punctual, and able to handle confidential information (cash, receipts) responsibly.

● Language : English, Kannada
