The Senior Architect (Civil) is responsible for overseeing the architectural design, development, and execution of civil engineering projects. This role ensures that projects are completed according to architectural standards, regulations, client specifications, and budgets. The Senior Architect will lead design teams, provide creative and functional architectural solutions, and manage the integration of architectural and engineering aspects for large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
Architectural Design and Development:
Lead the design of architectural concepts for civil engineering projects, including buildings, bridges, highways, and other infrastructure.
Ensure that architectural designs meet functional, aesthetic, and regulatory requirements.
Develop detailed design plans, specifications, and blueprints, integrating civil and architectural elements.
Oversee the preparation of concept designs, sketches, and layouts for approval by clients and regulatory authorities.
Project Leadership and Coordination:
Lead and manage a team of architects, junior architects, and drafters in the development of project designs.
Coordinate closely with structural engineers, civil engineers, and other specialists to ensure the successful integration of architectural and engineering designs.
Conduct project reviews and provide design feedback to ensure quality control and compliance with established project objectives.
Oversee the preparation of construction documentation, including architectural drawings and technical specifications.
Client Interaction and Presentation:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding architectural design matters, ensuring that their needs and expectations are met.
Prepare and present design proposals, design development, and final plans to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
Participate in meetings with clients to discuss design concepts, revisions, and budget constraints.
Review client feedback and make necessary adjustments to design plans.
Project Planning and Scheduling:
Work with the project manager to establish project timelines, milestones, and budgets for architectural deliverables.
Monitor project schedules and ensure that design work is completed on time and within budget.
Identify potential design-related delays or issues and develop solutions to keep the project on track.
Code Compliance and Regulatory Approvals:
Ensure that all architectural designs comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental standards.
Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies to secure necessary approvals and permits for architectural and construction activities.
Stay up to date with the latest trends, regulations, and best practices in architecture, especially in the civil engineering domain.
Construction Support and Site Supervision:
Provide architectural oversight during the construction phase to ensure that designs are accurately implemented.
Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and quality, ensuring that work meets design specifications.
Address design-related issues during construction and work closely with contractors to resolve any discrepancies.
Sustainability and Innovation:
Incorporate sustainable design practices into architectural solutions, considering energy efficiency, materials, and environmental impact.
Stay informed about innovations in building technologies and design methodologies, applying best practices to ensure high-quality, efficient, and sustainable projects.
Mentorship and Team Development:
Mentor and guide junior architects, providing leadership and support in design development, technical skills, and professional growth.
Conduct training sessions and workshops to improve the architectural team’s skills and knowledge.
Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, ensuring effective communication and problem-solving within the design team.
Budget and Resource Management:
Work with the project management team to ensure that architectural work is completed within budget.
Review and approve material and labor estimates for architectural tasks.
Assist in the procurement of architectural materials and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., LEED, RIBA) is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in architectural design, with a focus on civil engineering projects.
At least 3 years of experience in a senior or leadership role overseeing architectural teams.
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of architectural design principles, building codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations.
Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite).
Strong leadership, team management, and project coordination skills.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.

Licensed Architect (LEED, AIA, RIBA, or similar credentials).

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Saturday. Occasional overtime required based on project deadlines.
Location: Primarily office-based with regular site visits to project locations.
