Job Description – Product Designer (Veneer Industry)
Position: Product Designer
Department: Design & Product Development
Location: Andheri East / Parel / Sewri, Mumbai
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reporting To: Director
Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Product Designer with experience in the veneer, plywood, laminates, or interior products industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing innovative veneer designs, creating new product collections, researching market trends, coordinating with production teams, and ensuring products meet quality and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop new veneer products, collections, and decorative surface solutions.
Design veneer applications including marquetry, CNC routing, fluting panels, and inlay
Develop innovative surface patterns and finishes aligned with global design trends
Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to develop designs for custom orders from architects and designers
Collaborate with architects and designers for custom surface solutions
Translate concepts into prototypes and final production-ready designs
Contribute to sampling formats, product visuals, and displays
Research domestic and international trends in wood veneers, interior design, furniture, and architecture.
Prepare design concepts, mood boards, product presentations, and material samples.
Coordinate with procurement and production teams to ensure design feasibility.
Develop veneer layouts, matching patterns, textures, and finishes.
Work closely with sales and marketing teams for product launches and customer presentations.
Create product specifications, catalogs, and technical documentation.
Ensure consistency in product quality, color matching, grain patterns, and finishing.
Collaborate with architects, interior designers, and key clients for customized veneer solutions.
Conduct competitor analysis and recommend new product opportunities.
Assist in prototype development and product testing.
Maintain design archives, digital libraries, and sample inventories.
Ensure compliance with company quality standards and production timelines.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Product Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Furniture Design, Architecture, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in veneer, plywood, laminates, furniture, wood products, or interior materials.
Freshers with exceptional design portfolios may also apply.
Required Skills
Strong understanding of natural wood veneers, grains, textures, and finishes.
Knowledge of furniture manufacturing and decorative surface materials.
Proficiency in:
AutoCAD
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
CorelDRAW (preferred)
prepare technical drawings and product specifications.
Strong visualization and creative thinking skills.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
Good coordination and project management skills.
Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Preferred Experience
Experience in veneer manufacturing or decorative wood products.
Knowledge of veneer pressing, polishing, staining, and finishing processes.
Understanding of sustainable wood sourcing and industry standards.
Experience working with architects and interior designers.
