Job Description: Interior Designer / Architect

Location: Mumbai

Role Context

At abcoffee, design is not decoration — it is infrastructure for habit.

This role is responsible for designing high-efficiency, scalable retail formats that balance speed of service, brand identity, cost discipline, and repeatability across cities.

You will work closely with Projects, Operations, and Vendors to ensure designs are buildable, cost-aware, and rollout-ready.

Key Responsibilities

1. Store Design & Layout Planning

• Create 2D layouts for new outlets including:

o Equipment placement

o Back-of-house efficiency

o Customer flow and ordering zones

• Design modular, repeatable layouts suitable for high-speed rollouts

2. 3D Visualisation & Concept Development

• Develop 3D models and renders for:

o New store formats

o Design upgrades / pilots

o Special locations (corporate parks, transport hubs, kiosks)

• Translate brand guidelines into physical space with consistency

3. Innovation & Format Thinking

• Propose innovative layouts and design solutions that:

o Reduce footprint and cost

o Improve throughput and ergonomics

o Enable faster build and replication

• Continuously improve formats based on on-ground learnings

4. Coordination with Projects & Vendors

• Work closely with the Projects team to ensure designs are execution-ready

• Share drawings, BOQs inputs, and clarifications with vendors

• Support site execution with design clarifications when required

5. Standardisation & Documentation

• Maintain updated design libraries, drawings, and format playbooks

• Standardise materials, finishes, and specifications wherever possible

• Incorporate cost and build feedback into future designs

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have

• 2–5 years experience as an Interior Designer or Architect, preferably in retail, QSR, cafés, or commercial interiors

• Strong capability in 2D & 3D design

• Proficiency in tools such as:

o AutoCAD

o SketchUp / 3ds Max / Blender

o V-Ray / Lumion / Enscape (any)

• Strong spatial thinking and attention to detail

• Ability to design with speed, constraints, and scale in mind

Good to Have

• Experience designing high-footfall retail environments

• Understanding of materials, finishes, and cost implications

• Exposure to modular or standardised retail formats

• Ability to balance aesthetics with operations and execution reality
