Experienced HVAC Design Drafter (AutoCAD & Revit)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Design Drafter to join our growing engineering team. This role is suited to a technically capable drafter with strong skills in AutoCAD (2D & 3D) and Revit MEP, and solid experience delivering coordinated mechanical services documentation across residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

You will work closely with mechanical engineers, project managers, and external consultants to produce accurate, well-coordinated HVAC drawings and BIM models across all project stages.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed HVAC mechanical services drawings using AutoCAD 2D/3D and Revit MEP

• Develop and document:

o Ductwork layouts

o Mechanical pipework layouts

o Equipment and plant room layouts

o Schematics and typical details

• Develop complete HVAC design drawings based on provided design parameters, engineering guidelines, and design briefs, translating performance requirements into coordinated documentation

• Develop and maintain Revit BIM models in accordance with project BIM requirements

• Coordinate drawings and models with:

o Architectural

o Electrical

o Hydraulic

o Fire services disciplines

• Update drawings based on engineering mark-ups, RFIs, and design changes

• Assist engineers in delivering compliant designs in line with:

o Project specifications

o Relevant Australian Standards

o NCC requirements (where applicable)

• Prepare and update as-built drawings at project completion

• Maintain organised drawing registers and documentation records

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong proficiency in:

o AutoCAD (2D & 3D)

o Revit MEP

• Good understanding of HVAC systems, including:

o Air distribution systems

o Ventilation systems

o VRF / VRV systems

o Chilled water systems

o Mechanical plant layouts

• Experience producing construction-stage documentation

• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, mark-ups, technical specifications, and design parameters

• Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy

• Good communication skills and ability to work within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Drafting, or equivalent

• Experience using Navisworks or BIM coordination tools

• Exposure to residential apartment, commercial, healthcare, or industrial projects

• Understanding of BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and modelling standards
