Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing cost accounting activities, and supporting plant-level financial decision-making. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong internal controls and providing financial insights to support operational efficiency in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
Maintain general ledger accuracy and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
2. Cost Accounting & Inventory Management
Perform standard costing, variance analysis (PPV, yield variances, labor variances, overhead absorption).
Monitor and analyze inventory valuation, WIP, scrap, and stock adjustments.
Support BOM (Bill of Materials) and routing accuracy with production and engineering teams.
Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
Provide financial analysis on production costs, margins, and operational KPIs.
Monitor budget performance and highlight deviations with root-cause analysis.
4. Internal Controls & Compliance
Ensure strong internal control environment across accounting and plant operations.
Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
Implement improvements in accounting procedures and ERP processes.
Payables, Receivables & Cash Management
Oversee vendor payments, purchase accounting, and GR/IR reconciliations.
Support credit control, customer invoicing, and collections as needed.
Assist in cash flow monitoring and treasury activities.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with production, procurement, warehouse, and supply chain teams.
Provide financial insights to support operational decision-making and cost optimization projects.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
CPA / CMA / CA or equivalent qualification (preferred).
Experience:
2 to 4 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
Hands-on experience with cost accounting, inventory controls, and ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/NetSuite/IFS).
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of standard costing and manufacturing finance principles.
Advanced MS Excel skills; experience with financial modeling is a plus.
Familiarity with GAAP/IFRS and local tax regulations.
