Job Summary
The Quality Engineer / Lab Technician is responsible for ensuring that all construction materials and processes meet the required quality standards. The role involves conducting laboratory and field tests, maintaining quality records, and supporting site teams to comply with project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Material Testing & Inspection
Conduct laboratory and on-site tests for materials such as cement, concrete, aggregates, soil, bitumen, and steel.
Perform tests like slump test, cube compressive strength test, sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, Proctor compaction, etc.
Ensure proper sampling and testing procedures as per relevant standards (IS codes).
2. Quality Control & Assurance
Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality plans.
Implement Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures at site.
Identify non-conformities and assist in corrective and preventive actions.
3. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of all test results, reports, and quality documentation.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
Ensure proper calibration records of lab equipment.
4. Site Coordination
Coordinate with site engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure quality compliance.
Provide technical guidance on material quality and testing procedures.
Assist during audits and inspections by clients or third parties.
5. Equipment Handling & Maintenance
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration.
Ensure safety standards are followed in the lab and at site.
Required Qualifications
Diploma / B.Tech in Civil Engineering or related field
1–5 years of experience in construction quality or lab testing (freshers with strong fundamentals may be considered for junior roles)
Required Skills
Knowledge of IS codes and construction quality standards
Familiarity with material testing procedures and lab equipment
Basic computer skills (MS Excel, reporting tools)
Attention to detail and analytical skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Skills
Experience in infrastructure projects (roads, highways, buildings, etc.)
Knowledge of QA/QC documentation systems
Experience working with third-party testing agencies
