Job Description: IT Infrastructure Engineer
Position Summary
The IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, including network systems, servers, hardware, and end-user devices. The role ensures high availability, security, and optimal performance of all IT infrastructure while providing technical support and implementing infrastructure improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the organization's LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and internet connectivity.
Install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
Administer Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file servers, and virtualization platforms.
Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, biometric devices, and other IT hardware.
Perform hardware upgrades, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
Monitor infrastructure performance and ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
Manage server backups, disaster recovery processes, and business continuity planning.
Implement and maintain network security, endpoint protection, firewall policies, and antivirus solutions.
Troubleshoot hardware, network, and system issues, providing timely resolution.
Coordinate with vendors for hardware procurement, warranty claims, and technical support.
Maintain IT asset inventory, software licenses, and infrastructure documentation.
Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and capacity expansion projects.
Ensure compliance with IT security policies and organizational standards.
Provide technical support to end users for infrastructure-related issues.
Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance IT operations.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
Experience with Cisco, HP, Aruba, Fortinet, Sophos, or similar networking technologies.
Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and backup solutions.
Knowledge of firewall configuration, network security, and endpoint management.
Experience troubleshooting desktops, laptops, printers, servers, and other IT hardware.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS is an advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
