Job Description

A CCTV Technician installs, services, and repairs security camera systems, including wiring, configuring Digital Video Recorders (DVRs/NVRs), and testing cameras for optimal performance. They troubleshoot technical issues, upgrade software, and provide technical support to residential or commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities

Installation: Installing CCTV cameras, cabling (CAT5/6), DVR/NVR, and power supplies according to project specifications.
Troubleshooting/Repair: Diagnosing and resolving issues with camera, monitor, or recording equipment, often involving network connectivity and software configuration.
Maintenance: Performing regular system inspections, cleaning components, and conducting firmware updates to ensure functionality.
Customer Support: Training clients on system operation and providing technical support.
Documentation: Maintaining accurate logs of installation, maintenance activities, and service reports.
Site Surveying: Assessing locations for optimal camera placement and security coverage.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education: High school diploma, ITI certificate, or diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
Technical Expertise: Knowledge of video surveillance systems, IP networking, and low-voltage electrical wiring.
Experience: Proven experience as a CCTV Technician or similar, often 1-2 years.
Physical Ability: Ability to work at heights, use power tools, and work in varied environments.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and customer service skills.
