Core ResponsibilitiesDesign & Modeling: Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and parametric parts using SolidWorks to develop new products or machinery.2D Drafting: Generate precise 2D technical drawings, fabrication layouts, and shop drawings using AutoCAD.Engineering Collaboration: Work with engineers and project managers to convert conceptual sketches, verbal instructions, or field data into accurate, production-ready drawings.Design Modifications: Revise existing drawings and 3D models based on client feedback, site changes, or engineering markups.Manufacturing Support: Ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and comply with industry standards (e.g., ANSI, ISO), including sheet metal, welding, and SPM (Special Purpose Machine) design.Documentation: Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), material specifications, and maintain organized design records.Common Roles & Job TitlesMechanical Design Engineer: Focuses on 3D modeling, simulation, and product development.CAD Designer/Draftsman: Focuses on converting 3D models into 2D shop drawings for production.Product Designer: Develops new products from concept to final drawings.Key Skills & RequirementsSoftware Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience in SolidWorks (3D) and AutoCAD (2D/3D).Industry Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing processes (molding, stamping, machining, plating), sheet metal fabrication, and furniture construction.Technical Skills: Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-up analysis, and FEA (simulation).Education/Experience: Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Design, or related field with 2-5+ years of relevant experience.
