Field Supervisor

A site supervisor oversees day-to-day operations on a project site, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards. Key responsibilities include managing teams and subcontractors, monitoring project progress, ensuring compliance with safety and building codes, coordinating resources, and communicating with stakeholders. Essential skills for this role are strong leadership, excellent communication, a detailed understanding of construction and safety regulations, and problem-solving abilities.  

Key Responsibilities

• Project Oversight:

  Monitor daily progress of construction or other projects, ensuring they meet specifications and timelines. 

• Team Management:

  Supervise and coordinate workers, subcontractors, and other on-site staff, assigning duties, evaluating performance, and providing training. 

• Safety and Compliance:

  Implement and enforce site safety regulations, conduct regular inspections, identify hazards, and ensure compliance with building codes and health and safety protocols. 

• Resource Management:

  Manage and order materials, equipment, and other resources to avoid delays and control costs. 

• Quality Control:

  Inspect completed work to ensure it meets project standards and quality requirements. 

• Communication:

  Liaise with project managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders, providing progress reports and relaying critical information. 

• Problem-Solving:

  Address and resolve any issues, conflicts, or unforeseen challenges that arise on-site. 

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Leadership: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and direct teams effectively. 

• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and coordination. 

• Technical Knowledge: Sound knowledge of building codes, construction safety regulations, and blueprints. 

• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve site issues. 

• Organizational Skills: Good time management skills to prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and track project progress. 

• Certifications: First Aid and CPR certifications are often required. 

• Experience: Proven experience working in a supervisory role within the construction or a related field is essential.
