Job Summary:
The Health Counselor will provide counseling services to individuals within the organization, focusing on promoting mental health, emotional well-being, and coping strategies. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to offer individual and group counseling, and a commitment to providing support for people facing various challenges. The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) or Bachelor’s in Social Work (BSW) and have experience in mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and offering resources for mental health support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to individuals experiencing personal, emotional, or mental health concerns.

• Assess clients' needs and develop personalized care plans based on their mental health challenges.

• Offer ongoing counseling services and provide crisis intervention when necessary.

• Create and lead wellness workshops and support groups to promote mental health awareness.

• Help individuals build coping strategies for dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.

• Collaborate with other professionals, including healthcare providers and community organizations, to ensure holistic care.

• Maintain confidential records of all counseling sessions, treatments, and follow-up care.

• Offer referrals to external mental health specialists or community services when appropriate.

• Contribute to the development of policies and programs that enhance the mental health and well-being of those served by the organization.

• Educate clients about available resources and provide ongoing support in managing mental health.

• Ensure the proper documentation of all counseling interactions in accordance with legal and organizational standards.

Qualifications:

• Education:

  • Master's in Social Work (MSW) or Bachelor's in Social Work (BSW) is required.

• Experience:

  • Proven experience in counseling, mental health services, or social work, especially in an organization setting.

  • Previous experience with crisis intervention, individual counseling, and group therapy.

  • Knowledge of mental health conditions, treatment modalities, and coping strategies.

• Skills:

  • Strong communication and active listening skills.

  • Empathetic, compassionate, and patient demeanor when working with clients.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Problem-solving skills and ability to manage difficult situations.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple cases.

• Licensure/Certification:

  • Licensed Social Worker (LCSW, LMSW) or eligibility for licensure is preferred but not required.

• High level of cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse populations.

• Understanding of ethical and legal considerations related to mental health counseling and client confidentiality.

• Ability to remain calm under pressure and in crisis situations.
