We are seeking a highly skilled and communicative Solar Project Engineer to oversee the design, execution, and commissioning of our rooftop solar projects. Our portfolio ranges from kilowatt-scale (kW) residential/commercial setups to large-scale Commercial & Industrial (C&I) installations.
The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical design and on-site execution. You must possess a robust understanding of electrical engineering principles, deep technical knowledge of solar PV systems, and excellent communication skills to effectively manage clients, vendors, and on-site teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Execution & Site Management
Lead the end-to-end execution of rooftop solar projects (kW scale up to large C&I megawatt scale).
Conduct detailed site surveys to assess structural integrity, shading, and electrical grid connection points.
Manage on-site installation teams and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
2. Electrical Design & Technical Review
Review and validate electrical schematics, single-line diagrams (SLDs), string layouts, and cable sizing calculations.
Ensure deep technical compliance with electrical codes, net-metering regulations, and safety standards.
Oversee the installation and commissioning of critical electrical components, including inverters, AC/DC distribution boxes, transformers, and evacuation systems.
3. Client & Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, translating complex engineering concepts into clear, understandable updates.
Coordinate with government bodies and electrical inspectors for grid connectivity, approvals, and net-metering documentation.
Provide regular, structured progress reports to the management team.
4. Quality Control & Safety
Enforce strict Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) standards for all solar equipment and installation workmanship.
Implement and monitor occupational health and safety protocols on-site.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical & Educational Background
Education: Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a closely related field.
Solar Expertise: Minimum of 2–5 years of hands-on experience in solar PV engineering (specifically rooftop and C&I segments). Thorough understanding of solar modules, string/central inverters, net-metering, and net-billing mechanisms.
Electrical Knowledge: Advanced understanding of AC/DC power systems, earthing (grounding) layouts, lightning protection systems, and grid-tied systems.
Tools: Proficiency in solar design software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope) and AutoCAD is highly preferred.
Soft Skills & Competencies
Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English [and any local language required, e.g., Hindi/Spanish]. Ability to present technical data clearly to non-technical clients.
Leadership: Proven ability to manage field technicians and contractors under tight deadlines.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot on-site electrical issues or design bottlenecks quickly
