Job Description

ITI Electrician in a hospital is primarily responsible for ensuring an uninterrupted power supply and maintaining safe electrical operations across the entire medical facility. Because patient care depends heavily on stable electricity, this role requires high reliability and quick problem-solving

1. Critical Power & Backup Management

Operate and maintain Diesel Generator (DG) sets to ensure instant backup during main grid failures.
Inspect and service central UPS systems feeding life-support equipment.
Monitor LT/HT electrical panels, transformers, and main switchgears daily.

2. Routine & Preventive Maintenance

Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) for hospital wiring, switches, and distribution boards.
Maintain continuous power supply to critical zones like OTs, ICUs, NICUs, and blood banks.
Fix general utility faults involving ward lighting, ceiling fans, nurse call bells, and geysers.

3. Breakdown & Safety Operations

Troubleshoot sudden electrical faults rapidly to minimize downtime.
Test facility earthing pits and lightning protection systems regularly.
Follow hospital infection control and electrical safety protocols strictly while using proper PPE.

4. Reporting.

Record completed breakdown complaints and report major issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.
