Core responsibilities
Facility maintenance:
Inspecting buildings and grounds for necessary repairs, managing ongoing maintenance, and responding to emergencies like power outages or equipment malfunctions.
Staff and vendor management:
Supervising internal maintenance, cleaning, and security staff, as well as managing external contractors and vendors for services like landscaping, repairs, and internet maintenance.
Budget and finance:
Creating and managing budgets for maintenance, repairs, and projects, which includes cost optimization and managing financial functions and contracts.
Health and safety:
Implementing and enforcing safety protocols, building codes, and environmental regulations to ensure compliance and a safe workplace.
Project management:
Overseeing and executing renovation, construction, and repair projects, and managing their closure.
Strategic planning:
Contributing to strategic goals, planning for future infrastructure needs, and making decisions on leasing and space allocation.
Essential skills and qualifications
Technical skills:
Knowledge of building systems, maintenance best practices, and technical/engineering operations.
Leadership and management:
Ability to lead teams, manage complex workloads, and make decisions.
Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with staff, vendors, and stakeholders.
Analytical and problem-solving:
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to see the bigger picture.
Commercial awareness:
Understanding of basic accounting and finance principles, as well as procurement and contract management.
