ITI Electrician – Job Description

Position Overview

An ITI Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The role includes ensuring safety compliance, diagnosing electrical issues, and performing preventive maintenance to keep electrical equipment running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, fittings, and fixtures.

• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.

• Install and troubleshoot circuit breakers, control panels, motors, and transformers.

• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.

• Inspect electrical systems for safety hazards and ensure compliance with electrical codes.

• Test electrical systems using tools such as multimeters, testers, and clamp meters.

• Repair faults in lighting systems, distribution boards, and power equipment.

• Perform cable laying, drilling, conduit installation, and wiring terminations.

• Assist in installation of industrial machinery and electrical control systems.

• Prepare work reports and maintain service documentation.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring, and safety standards.

• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently.

• Skill in using electrical testing tools and hand tools.

• Understanding of single-phase and three-phase systems.

• Basic knowledge of motor winding and transformer operations (optional).

• Physical fitness and ability to work in various environments.

• Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Educational: ITI in Electrician Trade from a recognized institute.

• Experience: 2 to 5 years (depending on job role).

• License: Electrical work permit/license (if required by local regulations).
