Electrician

Key Responsibilities

• Installation:

  Install wiring, lighting, control systems, and other electrical components in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. 

• Maintenance:

  Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure proper function and prevent failures. 

• Troubleshooting & Repair:

  Identify and diagnose electrical issues using tools such as ammeters and thermal scanners, then repair or replace faulty parts, wiring, or fixtures. 

• Blueprint Reading:

  Interpret technical diagrams, wiring blueprints, and schematics to understand system layouts and ensure correct installation and repair. 

• Safety & Compliance:

  Adhere to the National Electrical Code, state, and local building regulations to ensure all installations and repairs are safe and compliant. 

• Testing & Calibration:

  Perform tests to ensure electrical components and systems are working properly and calibrate equipment as needed. 

• Documentation:

  Keep records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and servicing information. 

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Proficiency:

  Strong practical skills in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment. 

• Technical Knowledge:

  Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints. 

• Problem-Solving:

  Excellent analytical skills to diagnose complex electrical problems and find effective solutions. 

• Attention to Detail:

  Meticulous approach to work, ensuring accuracy in installations and repairs to prevent hazards. 

• Physical Stamina:

  Ability to work in various conditions, climb ladders, and work in tight or high spaces. 

• Education & Training:

  Completion of an apprenticeship and/or a degree from a technical college or trade school is often required.
