Electrician

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspection, preventive maintenance and repair of electrical systems (AC/DC), motors, starters, control panels, switchgears, distribution boards, and wiring across port facilities.

• Troubleshoot electrical faults on cranes, conveyors, dock lighting, shore power systems, pumps, and auxiliary equipment; isolate and rectify root causes.

• Install, commission and test new electrical equipment and lighting systems as per drawings and manufacturer instructions.

• Carry out maintenance and basic programming/diagnostics of PLCs and VFDs (where applicable) in coordination with automation team/contractor.

• Operate and maintain diesel generator sets (start/stop, routine checks, battery maintenance, changeover procedures).

• Work with the mechanical team for motor removals/fitments, alignment checks, and insulation resistance testing.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, log sheets, test reports and parts usage records.

• Follow lock-out/tag-out and permit-to-work systems before starting any electrical work; ensure all safety checks are completed.

• Ensure availability and proper use of PPE; participate in safety drills and toolbox talks.

• Coordinate with contractors, vendors and port operations for shutdowns, load shedding and planned preventive maintenance.

• Be available for emergency call-outs and participate in shift handovers and shift-wise reporting.
