Driver

We are looking for a Driver to join our clients Hospital as Ambulance Driver. The primary responsibility in this role will include patients safely and efficiently while maintaining the highest level of service. The position offers ₹15,000 - ₹25,000 along with additional perks provided by the company.

Position: Ambulance Driver

The Ambulance Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of patients while maintaining the ambulance in a state of operational readiness. The role requires professionalism, compassion, adherence to traffic regulations, and coordination with medical staff to provide seamless emergency and non-emergency patient transport.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Safely operate the ambulance during emergency and non-emergency patient transfers, following all applicable traffic laws and emergency driving protocols.

2. Ensure prompt response to emergency calls and maintain the shortest safe travel route to the destination.

3. Assist paramedics, nurses, and doctors in safely transferring patients into and out of the ambulance using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment.

4. Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitization of the ambulance before and after every patient transport.

5. Conduct daily vehicle inspections, including brakes, tyres, lights, sirens, oxygen systems, fuel levels, engine oil, coolant, battery, and other essential equipment.

6. Immediately report any vehicle malfunction, accident, or maintenance requirement to the concerned supervisor.

7. Ensure that emergency medical equipment, first-aid kits, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, wheelchairs, and other supplies are available, functional, and secured.

8. Maintain accurate records of ambulance trips, patient pickup and drop details, mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance logs, and incident reports.

9. Coordinate effectively with hospital administration, emergency response teams, doctors, nurses, and dispatch personnel.

10. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient information and comply with all applicable privacy and hospital policies.

11. Provide courteous, compassionate, and respectful assistance to patients and their attendants during transportation.

12. Ensure proper documentation is completed before and after every transport assignment.

13. Keep all vehicle registration, insurance, pollution certificate, permits, and other statutory documents updated and readily available.

14. Follow infection control protocols, biomedical waste disposal guidelines, and hospital safety procedures.

15. Be available for emergency duty, night shifts, weekends, and public holidays as per the duty roster.

16. Immediately inform the administration of any delays, accidents, breakdowns, or emergency situations affecting patient transport.

17. Ensure safe parking and security of the ambulance whenever not in operation.

18. Participate in periodic training on emergency response, basic life support, defensive driving, infection control, and patient handling.

19. Maintain discipline, professional appearance, and ethical conduct while representing the organization.

20. Perform any other transport or emergency-related duties assigned by the Hospital Administrator, Medical Superintendent, or Management.

Essential Requirements

• Valid LMV/Transport Driving Licence with authorization to drive an ambulance as per applicable regulations.

• Good driving record with knowledge of city routes and highways.

• Basic knowledge of first aid and patient handling (BLS certification preferred).

• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Physically fit to assist in lifting and transporting patients.

• Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and emergencies.
