We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Certified Solar Panel Installation Technician to join our renewable energy team. You will be responsible for the end-to-end installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial solar PV systems. The ideal candidate thrives working outdoors, possesses a strong background in electrical work, and is dedicated to delivering high-quality, sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Site Assessment: Evaluate structural integrity, roof conditions, and shading at customer sites to determine optimal panel placement.
System Installation: Assemble and securely install solar racking, mounts, and PV panels according to blueprints and engineering specifications.
Electrical Wiring: Connect solar arrays to inverters, batteries, and the electrical grid. Ensure proper grounding and system continuity.
Testing & Commissioning: Perform rigorous electrical and functional tests to ensure the system meets performance and safety standards before handing it over to the client.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Conduct routine preventive maintenance, inspect for system malfunctions, and repair or replace defective components.
Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all local, state, and federal electrical/building codes, and maintain a safe job site at all times (including working at heights and in varying weather conditions).
Qualifications & Requirements
Certification: Active certification from a recognized renewable energy program (e.g., NABCEP Certification or equivalent local accreditation).
Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of a vocational/technical program in electrical, mechanical, or renewable energy studies is highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of hands-on experience in solar installation, electrical work, or general construction.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and using diagnostic tools like multimeters.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding labor, including heavy lifting, climbing ladders, and comfortable working on rooftops or at varying heights.
Certifications: Valid driver’s license and OSHA safety certification (or equivalent safety credential).
