Role Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Counsellor who will provide personalised guidance to students/clients looking for education or career opportunities abroad and will also manage inbound/outbound calls related to enquiries, follow-ups and ongoing client support. This role therefore combines client-facing counselling, application support, call-handling and relationship-management.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions with students/clients to understand their academic background, career goals, budget and preferred destination.
Shortlist appropriate universities/institutions and programmes based on client profiles.
Guide students/clients through admission processes: application preparation, document review (SOP, transcripts, reference letters), financial planning and visa counselling.
Handle incoming calls (inquiries, follow-ups, updates) and make outgoing calls (consultation scheduling, check-ins, lead follow-up) in a professional and friendly manner.
Maintain and update knowledge of global education systems, country-specific entry requirements, scholarship opportunities and visa regulations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with partner universities/institutions overseas, as well as with students, parents and leads.
Manage leads, track calls/interaction via CRM, ensure timely follow-up and maintain client journeys from enquiry to enrolment (and beyond).
Meet assigned targets (e.g., number of counselling consultations, conversions/enrolments, call-handling metrics) and maintain records/CRM entries.
Organise events, webinars or information sessions for students/parents about study-abroad options, call-in sessions or tele-counselling outreach.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Master’s or PG qualification in counselling/education preferred).
Minimum 1-3 years’ experience (experience handling calls, enquiries, lead-tracking is a plus).
Strong command of English (both written and oral); additional languages are a bonus.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, able to simplify complex information for students and families.
Confident and clear call-handling skills: incoming enquiries, outgoing follow-ups, ability to engage and convert leads.
Good organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple student or client cases simultaneously.
