South Indian Chef – Roles & Responsibilities (Cloud Kitchen)

South Indian Chef
Job Summary:
The South Indian Chef is responsible for preparing authentic South Indian dishes in a cloud kitchen environment while maintaining food quality, consistency, hygiene, and timely order execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking
Prepare South Indian dishes such as Dosa, Idli, Vada, Uttapam, Pongal, Upma, Rice varieties, Sambar, Rasam, Chutneys, and Curry preparations.
Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
Follow standardized recipes and cooking procedures.
Prepare ingredients, batters, masalas, and gravies as per production requirements.
Order Management
Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure timely preparation and dispatch of online orders.
Maintain speed and accuracy during peak order hours.
Ensure all orders are packed according to company standards.
Inventory & Stock Control
Monitor daily stock levels of food ingredients and kitchen supplies.
Report shortages and place requisitions for required items.
Minimize food wastage and control production costs.
Ensure proper storage of raw materials and prepared food items.
Hygiene & Food Safety
Follow food safety standards and kitchen hygiene protocols.
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
Ensure compliance with FSSAI guidelines and company policies.
Practice proper handling and storage of perishable items.
Quality Control
Conduct quality checks on ingredients and finished products.
Maintain consistency in food quality and customer satisfaction.
Ensure all dishes meet the brand's standards before dispatch.
Team Coordination
Work closely with kitchen helpers, commis chefs, and packing staff.
Assist in training junior kitchen staff when required.
Support smooth kitchen operations and workflow management.
Skills Required:
Strong knowledge of authentic South Indian cuisine.
Expertise in dosa batter preparation and tawa operations.
Knowledge of food costing and portion control.
Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume cloud kitchen.
Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
Experience:
2–5 years of experience as a South Indian Chef in a restaurant, catering unit, or cloud kitchen.
Experience handling online food delivery operations is preferred.
Reporting To:
Head Chef / Kitchen Manager / Operations Manager.
