Their duties and responsibilities include:
Assisting in the preparation and baking of pastries, desserts, breads and other baked goods
Overseeing the production of pastry items and ensuring quality standards are met
Developing new recipes and innovative presentation styles for baked goods
Ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations
Supervising, training and mentoring junior staff in pastry production
Collaborating with the head pastry chef to plan and execute dessert menus
Managing inventory and ordering baking supplies as needed
Assisting in the plating and presentation of desserts during service
Maintaining equipment and ensuring that ovens and other baking tools are in good working order
Addressing any problems or complaints regarding desserts and pastries
