Position: Continental Kitchen Staff / Commis Chef

Job Summary
Responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of Continental cuisine while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, safety, and kitchen cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook Continental dishes according to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
Assist with mise en place, including cutting, chopping, marinating, portioning, and preparation of ingredients.
Handle kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Maintain consistency in taste, quality, portion size, and presentation.
Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of food items.
Monitor stock levels and inform the senior chef about shortages or wastage.
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, equipment, and kitchen areas.
Assist senior chefs during busy service periods.
Minimize food wastage and follow proper portion-control procedures.
Follow hotel/restaurant policies, HACCP standards, and safety procedures.
Support other kitchen sections when required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in a Continental kitchen is preferred.
Basic knowledge of Continental cooking techniques and ingredients.
Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to maintain cleanliness and discipline in the kitchen.
Hospitality/Hotel Management qualification is an advantage.

Working Conditions
Full-time position.
Shift duties, including weekends and holidays, may be required.
Requires prolonged standing and working in a hot kitchen environment.
