Continental Cook

Job Summary:

The Commis 1 – Continental Cuisine is responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality dishes in accordance with kitchen standards. The role includes assisting senior chefs in daily operations, especially focusing on Continental dishes such as pastas, steaks, grills, and sauces.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a variety of Continental dishes such as steaks, grilled meats, pasta, salads, sauces, etc.

• Follow standard recipes and plating techniques to ensure consistency and presentation quality.

• Assist Chef de Partie and Demi Chef in food preparation and mise-en-place.

• Maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.

• Monitor food stock and report shortages or spoilage to supervisors.

• Ensure proper storage and labelling of all food items.

• Comply with all food safety and hygiene standards as per HACCP guidelines.

• Work efficiently under pressure and manage time effectively during busy service hours.

• Stay updated on new menu items and preparation methods.

• Assist in receiving and inspecting food deliveries when required.

Requirements:

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a similar role (Continental kitchen preferred).

• Basic knowledge of Continental cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.

• Culinary diploma or certificate is an advantage.

• Ability to work in a team and follow instructions.

• Passion for food and attention to detail.

• Good communication and time management skills.

• Flexibility to work in shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
