The Commis 1 – Chinese Cuisine is responsible for preparing high-quality food under the supervision of senior chefs. This role involves assisting in cooking authentic Chinese dishes, ensuring hygiene standards, and contributing to a smooth kitchen operation.
Assist in the preparation and cooking of Chinese dishes (e.g., stir-fries, dim sum, soups, noodles).
Follow recipes and presentation specifications as directed by the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation.
Ensure all food items are stored properly and used efficiently to minimize waste.
Support the team in maintaining high standards of food hygiene and health & safety.
Taste and monitor the quality of dishes before serving.
Coordinate with kitchen team members to ensure timely food service.
Report any equipment maintenance issues to the supervisor.
Previous experience in a Chinese kitchen preferred (1–2 years in a similar role).
Basic knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques and ingredients.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong team spirit and willingness to learn.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
