Job Overview:

Jagannath Ashram is seeking a dedicated, disciplined, and spiritually inclined Jain Chef to prepare Satvik meals strictly without onion, garlic, or any tamasic ingredients, primarily for Lord Jagannath and the daily community offerings.

This role demands devotion, purity of habits, and culinary skill across various Indian and international cuisines while adhering to spiritual dietary principles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare daily meals for Lord Jagannath as per traditional Satvik and Jain culinary standards.

• Plan and cook a variety of multi-cuisine vegetarian meals, including:

  • Indian (North & South Indian)

  • Chinese (veg only, Jain-friendly)

  • Continental (veg only, Jain-compliant)

• Maintain strict kitchen hygiene and spiritual cleanliness.

• Manage kitchen inventory and sourcing of pure, high-quality ingredients.

• Ensure timely preparation and service aligned with Ashram rituals.

• Collaborate with other ashram staff for meal planning and special events.

• Perform daily cooking with devotion and a sense of service.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• 1–5 years of experience in multi-cuisine vegetarian cooking, preferably in religious or spiritual settings.

• Deep understanding of Jain food principles, especially cooking without onion, garlic, root vegetables, and other restricted items.

• Clean personal habits – absolutely no alcohol, smoking, tobacco, or any form of addiction.

• High level of discipline, punctuality, and spiritual sensibility.

• Ability to work in a calm, humble, and respectful environment.

Preferred Candidate Traits:

• Prior experience in temples, ashrams, or serving prasad.

• Knowledge of religious cooking protocols and traditions.

• Willingness to live onsite (accommodation may be provided).

• Ability to read/understand basic Hindi/Sanskrit/English is a plus.
